About Frankincense

Cultivation

Frankincense is a resin or kind of sap that can be tapped from trees of the genus Boswellia. The hard bark of the trees is cut or slashed and allowed to “bleed.” The resin seeps through the openings in the bark and hardens. The small, harden pieces of resin or, tears, are gathered by this method two to three times a year.
